This work experience can be divided into 4 periods.

  1. BI Report Platform, Aug 2016 - May 2020

    • The platform simplifies the process of accessing data from the data warehouse for data analysts and marketers. With the help of drag and drop, anyone can design data charts and dashboards and share data and insights with others. In addition to catering to the needs of internal users of the company, I also collaborated with the sales team to successfully sell this BI platform to 2 banks.

    • My responsibilities: (1) Collect cases of reports and dashboards, analyze user demands and pain points, plan and design features for upcoming iterations, adjust priority, and receive feedback from users. (2) Communicate with users, especially data analysts and marketers to understand their growth objectives, business logic, and plans. (3) Collaborate with data engineers to understand the architecture and existing data assets of the data warehouse, and deliver data requirements. Work with the development team to explain feature designs and promote developing progress.

  2. Marketing and user behavior analytics platform, Jun 2020 - Mar 2021

    • This platform is designed to assist marketers and data analysts within our company by allowing them to quickly query and analyze users’ online behaviors on our App and website. Unlike traditional BI platforms, this platform is much easier to set up and does not require users to have a technical background, such as being able to write SQL scripts.

    • My responsibilities: (1) Collect demands of user behavior analytics, such as event count, conversion funnel, heatmap of the landing page, etc. Design the user experience (UX) of each module to meet those needs. (2) Collaborate with the data engineering team to plan event types and parameters based on the event model. Prepare the data model at the same time. (3) Work closely with the development team, explain demands and UX designs, and ensure progress is being made. (4) Gather feedback and plan the next iteration base on the feedback received.

  3. Customer Data Platform (CDP), Mar 2021 - Apr 2023

    • This platform implements a unified account system that utilizes the ID Mapping method to connect data across various fields such as users, products, traffic, purchases, marketing, sales, finance. By using a unified account system, data analysts and marketers can gain insights into the target audience from different perspectives.

    • My responsibilities: (1) Understand marketing growth goals, and marketing methods we currently have, create User Journey Map of platform. (2) Collaborate with data analyst team, plan user tags for each business line. (Each user tag describes a kind of characteristic of user.) Data analysts and marketers can create target audience by combining user tags. (3) Organize user interview and collect questionaries regularly to get feedback, design dashboards to monitor the usage of each funtion of platform.

  4. A/B Test Platform, Apr 2023 - Present

    • This is a typical platform that facilitates online experiments, offering experiment design and data analytics functions. What makes it unique is that we create APIs for other systems within my company to fit diverse experiments, design data models in the data warehouse to enhance automatic analytics, and develop dashboards for marketers and operations to simplify their understanding of the experiment results and enable them to make better decisions.

    • My responsibilities: (1) Collaborate with data analysts to understand the statistical theory behind the A/B test. Work with data analysts, marketers, and operations to determine the requirements of dashboards. (2) Design UX to create and manage experiments, as well as the sub-system to manage metrics that will be used in dashboards to analyze experiments. (3) Work closely with the system development team and data engineering team, explain requirements, and ensure progress is being made.

  • Operating Management System

    • This is an internal platform that serves as a one-stop solution for managing, executing, monitoring, and analyzing online marketing campaigns. This platform allows marketers in the company to create campaigns on the platform with or without coupons, and track the progress by subscribing to the data dashboards.

    • My responsibilities: (1) Communicate with both marketers and operations to gather marketing requirements. (2) Collaborate with data analysts to design metrics which will be used to analyze campaigns, and create dashboards for each type of campaign. (3) Design UX and work with the development team to update the functions of the platform.

Development Engineer

State Information Center, Jul 2013 - May 2015

  1. Economic Data Processor (VBA in Excel)

    • This program consists of forms and subs written in the VBA of Excel. It’s used to collect, transform, and validate data for all provinces in China. There is a distinct Excel file for each province, which is downloaded from official websites.

    • I was one of four engineers on my team. My primary responsibility on the team is to develop and maintain the program.

  2. Project Management Platform (ASP.NET with C#)

    • This is a lightweight project management platform that is used to monitor the progress of economic data processing. We have defined monthly data as a project and monthly data of a specific province in China as a sub-project. By assigning each sub-project to a responsible person, we can monitor and promote the progress to ensure it is under control.

    • As the sole engineer for this platform, I am responsible for both server-end and front-end development.
